The NEW Talent Acquisition Framework
Remember when HR was referred to as the personnel department? It was non-strategic and highly tactical – little more than hiring employees, administering benefits, tracking attendance and handling employee issues. Today HR is a considered a core business function and the CHRO has the enviable "seat at the table," and in most cases is considered a key business partner to the CEO.
Not that long ago, talent acquisition was referred to as the recruiting department – with no more responsibility than reviewing resumes, screening candidates, and organizing candidate interviews. The phrase "talent acquisition" is now mainstream – and is embraced by both large and small organizations. Our research found that 71% of organizations measure employee engagement. As of the latest annual count, there are approximately 100,000 firms in the U.S. that employ more than 100 employees. That equates to 71,000 firms conducting some sort of employee engagement initiative – the parameter for the current employee engagement market.

Using Social Sourcing for Better Recruiting Results
Even with record unemployment, corporations report they cannot get the talent they need, with 52% of U.S. companies reporting that they have difficulty in filling jobs. Dollars spent on traditional recruiting methods are failing to attack the skill sets that businesses require. Not in all cases is it that the talent is totally unavailable – in many instances, it is that the recruiters cannot locate the candidates, or once located, cannot attract them.
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn – just a few of the social media and professional networks in the mainstream today which have changed the nature of communication between friends and business colleagues. Savvy recruiters have seized the "social" phenomenon as the prime method to brand their companies, post positions, and engage the passive candidate.
